Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience.

Details

• (CVPC) unit within a cardiac surgery stepdown setting with 40 beds
• Patient population includes CV and vascular surgery cases such as CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Staffing includes charge RNs, RNs, PCTs, and HUC support across day and night shifts
• Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs
• Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lifts
• Utilizes Cerner EMR
• Shift schedule runs 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• No on-call requirements
• Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per 6-week schedule period
• Floating required to stepdown units (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical units (1:6-7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding areas (1:6 ratio)

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year preferred
• CVICU experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine) is beneficial
• Experience with epidural, chest tube, and tube feeding management is beneficial
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to complex cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients as well as overflow cardiology patients
• Manage epidural pumps, chest tubes, tube feedings, and cardiac drips as part of daily responsibilities
• Team-oriented, fast-paced work environment requiring flexibility
• Flexible availability to work holidays is expected
• Scrub attire requirements: all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months are permitted
