Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience.
Details
- (CVPC) unit within a cardiac surgery stepdown setting with 40 beds
- Patient population includes CV and vascular surgery cases such as CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
- Also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
- Staffing includes charge RNs, RNs, PCTs, and HUC support across day and night shifts
- Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs
- Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lifts
- Utilizes Cerner EMR
- Shift schedule runs 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
- No on-call requirements
- Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per 6-week schedule period
- Floating required to stepdown units (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical units (1:6-7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding areas (1:6 ratio)
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Stepdown experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year preferred
- CVICU experience preferred
- Experience with cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine) is beneficial
- Experience with epidural, chest tube, and tube feeding management is beneficial
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to complex cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients as well as overflow cardiology patients
- Manage epidural pumps, chest tubes, tube feedings, and cardiac drips as part of daily responsibilities
- Team-oriented, fast-paced work environment requiring flexibility
- Flexible availability to work holidays is expected
- Scrub attire requirements: all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months are permitted
