Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring an active SC or Compact RN license and OR experience.

- 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- Nursing team is trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Day shift schedule with 4x10 hour shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
- On-call requirement of up to 4 call shifts every 4 weeks
- Required to work up to one weekend shift every 4 weeks
- Floating required within scope to like units and sister facilities as needed
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed and requires manager approval
Requirements
- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA)
- Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
- 2 years of OR nursing experience strongly preferred
- Scrub experience strongly preferred
- Level I trauma center experience preferred
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Work in a nurse-driven, Magnet-designated Main OR department at a Level I trauma, academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
- Nursing team composed of 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
- Scrubs are provided
- Required to work at least one holiday period, either Christmas (Dec. 24-26) or New Year's (Dec. 31-Jan. 1)
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
- Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be prioritized, with non-local candidates given preference
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a travelers
- During hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September), all staff including travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams
