Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring active CO or compact RN licensure and TNCC/CPI certification.
Details
- Level II trauma emergency department, certified chest pain center, and thrombectomy-capable stroke center within a hospital setting
- 27-bed unit with approximately 60 staff, with staffing levels adjusted throughout the day based on patient volume
- Core staffing includes 4 RNs (or 3 RNs and a medic), 1 EMT, and 1 EMT or secretary, with max staffing up to 7 RNs and additional support
- Patient ratio of 4:1, supported by a charge nurse who typically does not carry a patient assignment
- High-volume ED with a 30% admit rate, less than 10% low-acuity patient volume, 20% ESI 2 patient volume, and 28% EMS rate
- Performs procedural sedation primarily using Propofol, Etomidate, and Ketamine
- Provides psych/at-risk patient care with a focus on patient safety monitoring
- Uses Meditech (DOS platform) EMR
- 13-week assignment with a night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Requirements
- Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
- Minimum 1 year of current acute care ED hospital experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC
- CPI Blue Card certification required
- CEN certification and/or Meditech experience preferred
- Experience working in a high-volume ED unit preferred
- No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)

- Proactively anticipate next steps in the plan of care
- Facility has reduced opioid usage by 34% through use of alternative pain management therapies (ALTO)
- Stable night shift team with consistent charge nurse leadership
- ED leadership is actively involved, providing direct patient care, staff education, and patient rounding
- Manager/director available as backup and on-call support 24/7
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
