Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring critical care experience and NJ or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital, with ICU and CCU units combined
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:30, every other weekend required
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratios of 1:1-3 for critical care and 1:4 if floated to stepdown
• Required to float within skillset to ICU, CCU, CTICU, and Step Down units as needed
• May float to holding areas such as the ED for admitted ICU patients awaiting a bed (not for active ED patients)
• Floating ratios vary based on patient acuity and census
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS and Stroke CEUs preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of acute care/critical care/ICU experience required
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Previous CTICU or medical cardiology experience preferred
• Experience with Swan Ganz catheter monitoring highly preferred
• Exposure to IABP, Impella, and VAD devices preferred
• Skills in arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, and ABG interpretation required
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure preferred
• Experience titrating cardiac drips preferred
• Two current professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU, CCU, and CTICU patients, including post cardiac surgery care
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for this travel assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
