Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring an MD or compact RN license and C-EFM certification through NCC.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 6:50 AM to 7:20 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Call required for 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating expected to Mother/Baby unit if qualified
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Scrub role for C-section procedures preferred
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: C-EFM (through NCC), BLS, NRP, and STABLE
- ACLS certification preferred
- 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience preferred, though 2 years with strong experience will be considered
- 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must have completed at least 1 previous travel assignment
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood products, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of infusion pumps
- Experience with amnioinfusion, high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and hemorrhage/shock management required
- Sterile vaginal exam skills preferred
- Experience with EFM (external fetal heart monitoring) required
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
- Must support at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Support high-risk deliveries and assist with C-section procedures
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives as needed
- Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
- Manage fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement
- Provide postpartum care for cesarean section, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage patients
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per 13-week contract
- Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Scrub training preferred
