Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-volume Level II trauma Emergency Department, requiring 2+ years of RN experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Details
- Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center Emergency Department with over 100,000 annual visits
- 101-bed unit with typical patient ratios of 4:1 for medical patients and up to 7:1 for behavioral holds
- Support staff includes techs in cardiac monitoring and internal processing, triage staff, and unit clerks for both day and night shifts
- Uses Baxter pumps and GE monitors for patient care
- Documentation completed in Cerner
- Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend rotation required with scheduling based on departmental needs, not block scheduling
- No floating outside of the ED, but flexibility required to float across all ED sections
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in an Emergency Department setting
- Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits) preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS prior to start date
- ENPC certification required within 90 days of hire
- Strong teamwork mentality with the ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work across all areas of the ED

- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department setting
- Deliver a strong patient experience using AIDET principles, maintaining respectful communication and updated patient boards throughout each visit
- Join a team known for its collaborative, welcoming culture serving a diverse community representing over 120 languages
- Navy scrub dress code required
- Unit-specific attendance policy provided on first day
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this travel position
