Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg-Tele position requiring an NC or compact license and at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience.
Details
- Work in the 3N Renal Unit, a 31-bed Medical Telemetry unit within a 207-licensed-bed hospital
- Patient population includes end stage renal disease, PD, fluid overload, sickle cell, DM, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health patients
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7-8
- CNA to patient ratio of 1:6-12
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required to all units within scope of practice across the designated region, including facilities such as CMC Main, Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital (peds only)
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Unit does not utilize dedicated telemetry monitoring techs
- Support staff includes CNA, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skilled in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
- Experience with PCA pumps and medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- At least one professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
- Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
- Candidates must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least one year if previously employed in a permanent position there
- If required to float mid-shift, travel time between facilities is paid
