Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN with Epic charting experience for a 13-week teaching hospital assignment requiring MN licensure.

Details

• Acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation, 317 staffed beds
• PACU/Pre-Op/Phase 2 recovery role covering both the main hospital and Day Surgery Center (two locations within the same hospital system)
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• 5x8-hour shifts with day (0700-1530) and evening (1445-2315) options; additional shift start times available (0530, 0800, 0930, 1100, 1300)
• Weekend shifts required as needed per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required between the main hospital and Day Surgery Center, or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Epic (Excellian) EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS certification required; PALS is preferred
• 1-2 years of recent PACU/specialty experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Epic/Excellian charting experience required
• Skilled in airway management, ventilator care, and extubation
• Experience with cardiovascular monitoring including arterial lines and Swan-Ganz catheters preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
• Experience caring for patients following neuro, ortho, GI, GYN, vascular, and general surgery procedures
• Experience with pre/post-operative care including assessments, discharge instructions, and medication reconciliation

Additional Information

• Provide recovery care to patients across multiple surgical specialties including neuro, cardiac, ortho, GI, GYN, vascular, and plastics
• Support patients through various anesthesia types including general, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks
• Perform pre-op assessments, education, and post-op discharge planning
• Scrubs provided by the unit
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered, as no local candidates are accepted for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO requests should ideally not exceed 5 days
• Candidates who previously worked as perm staff or per diem must have a 3-month gap since their last shift before being eligible for this assignment
• Minnesota state fingerprinting requirements apply, which may require travel to a LiveScan location for candidates outside the state
