Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 18 months of experience and an active IN or compact RN license.
Details
- Cardiac and Medical PCU functioning as a true ICU stepdown unit
- Cares for patients post heart catheterization, on BiPAP, and requiring cardiac and vasoactive drip management (Levophed, Dopamine, Nitro, Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM
- Weekend shifts required
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
- No on-call responsibilities
- Cerner charting system used
- Short-term acute care facility with 194 staffed beds
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required in hand
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 18 months of recent nursing experience required
- Previous ICU experience highly preferred
- Trauma Level I, II, III, or IV facility experience required
- Experience with telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen required
- Ventilator management, charge nurse experience, and conscious sedation experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- Two supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide advanced stepdown-level care for cardiac and medical patients, including post-cath and post-ablation monitoring
- Scrub color requirement: red top, black bottoms
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
- Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
- Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
- Free on-site parking available
