Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license, 2 years of ER experience, and EPIC charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care teaching hospital
• Adult and geriatric patient population with all emergency diagnoses
• 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7p-7a)
• 15-week assignment length
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Utilizes specialized equipment including Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with arterial line management preferred
• Proficient in BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience administering IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
• Skilled in managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI cases, including pediatric spinal cord injury
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, and suicidal patients
• Experience with shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Ortho trauma experience required
• Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage

• Provide emergency care in a state-of-the-art, 24/7 ED featuring a centralized layout, dedicated pediatric ED, discreet crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite located steps from the ambulance entrance
• Facility is a Magnet-recognized, Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
• Scrub color must be a combination of navy blue and white
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for this role
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous staff must have a 6-month break in service system-wide before reapplying
• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during a 13-week contract period without penalty; being placed on-call in lieu of cancellation counts as a called-off shift
