Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I trauma academic medical center requiring scrub experience and SC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Main Operating Room of a Level I trauma academic teaching hospital with 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- RN's are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
- Nursing team consists of 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
- Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour MIDS shifts (10:30am-11:00pm)
- On-call requirement of up to 2 weekend call shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) per 4-week scheduling period
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units and sister facilities
- EPIC charting system used
Requirements
- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Radiation badge required
- Minimum 2 years of experience strongly preferred
- Level I trauma experience required
- Scrub experience strongly preferred
- Social Security Number and Driver's License required for consideration
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated, nurse-driven department providing cutting-edge surgical technology
- Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet Hospital with 820 total staffed beds
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Traveler required to work at least one holiday period, either Christmas (Dec 24-26) or New Year's (Dec 31-Jan 1)
- Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval based on unit needs
- During hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
- First-time travelers may be accepted depending on the position
- Previous perm staff, including PRN, must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis at a reduced rate; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Radius rule of 60 miles applies for local candidate determination
