Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an ED Holds/Tele night shift position requiring an active AZ or Compact RN license and recent cardiac telemetry experience.
Details
- Level 1 trauma acute care hospital, ED Holds/Tele unit
- Care for ED patients awaiting placement on an inpatient unit, primarily MS/Tele population
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with self-scheduling flexibility
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage rotates in line with permanent staff schedule
- No call or standby requirements
- Floats to med/surg/tele/overflow units and both campus EDs as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Titrates drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone per physician orders
- No ventilator equipment on this unit
- RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips themselves; no monitor tech on unit
- ED PCTs available for support
- May assist with ED patient vitals, IV starts, and medication administration, but not as primary RN for ED assignments
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry experience (within the past 6 months) required
- Strong cardiac tele background with ability to titrate and decrease cardiac drips per physician parameters
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Must pass the Relias dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving an offer (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a Pass/Fail sterile technique sim lab on the first day of orientation
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care for ED hold patients awaiting placement on an inpatient bed
- 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation to Med/Surg/Tele provided at primary campus
- Navy scrub color required per dress code
- Assigned to float first when floating is needed
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility per state radius requirements
- Candidates directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- Failing the Relias exam or sterile technique test twice results in ineligibility with this health system for 6 months
- First-time travelers welcome to apply; prior travel experience not required for MS/Tele candidates
