Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Medical Rehabilitation Unit in a long-term acute care setting, requiring 1-2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Medically Complex Rehabilitation unit within a long-term acute care hospital environment
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wound care, CAPD, and ventilator patients
• Patient ratios are 1:7 for day/evening shifts and 1:9 for nights
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required between acute care sister units (MRU and CMU), potentially splitting a single shift between units
• Accepts local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, administering drips and blood, performing EKGs, medication titrations, and glucose monitoring
• Perform wound vac changes and both complex and simple wound dressings
• Provide trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, foley care, port access, and central line dressing care
• Conduct wound measurements as part of routine care
• Nurses are not responsible for managing ventilators, as this is handled by respiratory therapists
• First-time travelers may be considered
