Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg/Oncology unit requiring tele experience and a valid AZ or compact RN license.
Details
- Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital setting in the MedSurg/Onc unit
- 32-bed unit with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, supported by 2-3 PCTs on day shift
- Patient population includes post-op colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, and breast reconstruction cases, as well as chemo/oncology patients
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
- Holiday rotation schedule required
- Standby requirement monitored by central staffing
- Floating required to other med/surg/tele units
- Self-scheduling available
- Unit is equipped to admit patients to overflow space and may require double-bunking room prep
- Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment but may assist with chemo administration on/off the unit
Requirements
- Active AZ state or compact RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
- Current ACLS and BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required, within the past 6 months
- Telemetry experience required due to floating to tele units
- Strong post-op assessment and time management skills needed for a high patient turnover unit
- ONS Chemo Provider Card preferred
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a Sim Lab sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide post-surgical and oncology nursing care including chemo administration support
- Unit-specific orientation includes 2 shifts with a preceptor
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past 12 months; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- Failure of the dysrhythmia or sterile technique test after two attempts results in DNU status for CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento facilities for 6 months
