Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Neuro PCU position requiring TX or compact RN licensure and NIHSS certification.

Details

• Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• 1:4 patient ratio at night, occasionally 1:5
• Divisional floating required, including overflow and ED holds
• Required to work 2-3 holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with prior travel experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CPI preferred
• Epic charting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC settings
• Skills in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and tracheostomy care
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, and interpreting dysrhythmias
• Nursys, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS documentation required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide care for neurological and cardiac stepdown patients, including CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and TBI cases
• Manage medication protocols including heparin and insulin drips
• Perform wound care and isolation precaution procedures as needed
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius, as local candidates are not accepted
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to accepting an offer
• License must be in hand prior to start date
