Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Stepdown Neuro RN for a night shift assignment requiring a TX or compact RN license and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Neuro PCU/Stepdown unit setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4 at night, occasionally 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Divisional floating required, including overflow and ED holds
• Must be able to work 2-3 holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience strongly preferred
• Skills in cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team utilization
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing neurological conditions including CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and TBI
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and HFNC
• Skills checklist and two supervisor references from within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care to neurological patients including CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration responsibilities
• Perform wound care and manage IV insulin protocols
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screen including marijuana testing, and a positive result results in automatic cancellation
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Modules are completed during orientation, averaging 2-3 hours, and are non-billable if completed within the first 16 hours
