Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring an active NY license and prior high-acuity critical care experience.
Details
- Work in a 16-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit
- Care for patients with sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, and respiratory failure/shock
- Patient ratio of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 based on acuity
- Utilizes advanced therapies including CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required
- EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- EPIC charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and interpretation
- Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Proficient in arterial line, central line, and IV therapy management
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drips, and neuromuscular blockade
- Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
- Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and renal failure management
- Knowledge of CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocols
- Experience with IV insulin protocols for endocrine/metabolic management
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive critical care to medically complex ICU patients
- Perform advanced procedures such as 12-lead EKG acquisition, chest tube assistance, and procedural sedation monitoring
- Support nurse-driven ECMO protocols and pulmonary artery line monitoring
- Manage patients on massive transfusion protocols and monitor for abdominal compartment syndrome
- Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates cannot have more than 10 days of requested time off
- Previous facility staff must have separated for at least 6 months system-wide to be eligible
