Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a hospital position requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active SD or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg unit with 12 beds
• Patient population includes medical surgical, intermediate level, and outpatient infusion patients with diagnoses such as stroke, MI, and trauma
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation with self-scheduling and no set weekends
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC and Space Lab charting systems

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or compact) currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• PALS and CPI certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience, which may include a mix of ED and Med/Surg
• Completion of an approved nursing education program
• Med/Surg inpatient care experience required
• Experience with a team nursing approach involving nurses, respiratory therapy, and imaging

Additional Information

• Work alongside CNAs, a 24/7 charge nurse covering Med/Surg, ED, and outpatient areas, and an in-house respiratory therapy team (Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm)
• First day orientation includes time with the manager, Epic/Ilearn online training, and one shift with a preceptor
• Holiday coverage assigned as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
• Time off requests must be approved prior to the start of the contract
• First-time travelers considered based on interview and fit
• Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and frequently renews traveler contracts
