Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Endoscopy position requiring 3 years of ENDO experience and recent pediatric, Cerner, and bronchoscopy experience.

Details

  • Endoscopy unit within a short-term acute care hospital
  • Sees high volumes of both pediatric (0 months-18 years) and adult patients, with pediatric cases scheduled Monday through Thursday
  • 1:1 patient ratios providing pre/post and intraprocedural care
  • Day shift schedule of 4x12 hours from 6:30 to 19:00
  • Block scheduling available for 4 consecutive days (Mon-Fri or Mon-Wed and Fri)
  • On-call required one Mon-Thu shift (1700-0530) per week and one weekend (Fri 1700-Mon 0530) every 6 weeks
  • No weekend shift requirement outside of on-call rotation
  • Floating required within scope to PACU as needed, and 100% floating required within hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals
  • Cerner EMR required for charting
  • Unit performs Upper & Lower GI, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, esophageal varices and banding, and pain management procedures

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start (no pending licenses accepted)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Minimum 3 years of Endoscopy experience required
  • Must have pediatric, bronchoscopy, and Cerner experience within the last 2 years
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Experience with Provation preferred
  • Skilled in specimen handling/labeling, starting and maintaining IVs, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, and medication administration including opioid analgesics
  • Experience recovering patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care sedation
  • Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct 1:1 care to pediatric and adult patients during endoscopy procedures, including pre/post and intraprocedural phases
  • Use specialized equipment including balloon dilators, bronchoscopy cart and supplies, electrosurgical units, ERBE, forceps, foreign body equipment, and polyp snares
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Free parking available
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are not accepted for this position and locals are not accepted
  • Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
