Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry unit requiring Level 2 (Level 1 preferred) trauma experience and AZ or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Acute care Neuro Telemetry unit (5NNB/7NNB) within a Level 1 trauma hospital
- 32-bed unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Common diagnoses include CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, brain tumor, and trached patients
- Central telemetry monitoring with EKG interpretation required
- Cerner EMR with WOWs (workstations on wheels)
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p
- 4 total weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) per 4-week period
- Holiday coverage based on unit staffing needs
- Charge nurse takes a light patient assignment
- Support staff includes nurse aides for BS, VS, and straight cath
- 24/7 respiratory therapy and central pharmacy support
- SWAT RN available for difficult IV access
- 2 days of floor-specific orientation
- Fast-paced unit with average length of stay of 4-5 days
- Priority floating to other MS/Tele units, potentially including Westgate or AZ General Laveen
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 18+ months of RN experience required, 2 years preferred
- Neuro nursing experience highly preferred
- Level 1 trauma experience required; Level 2 trauma experience will be considered
- Must be competent in titrating Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin drips
- Must be able to interpret EKG rhythms
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
- Must pass a Day 1 sterile technique skills exam for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide bedside nursing care to a high-acuity neuro telemetry patient population with frequent turnover
- Participate in bedside shift report
- Steel gray scrub color required
- Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for respirator fit testing
- Must have own vehicle for travel to and from the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility per state radius rule, as verified by driver's license
- Candidates approved with 7 days of PTO or less may receive an auto offer; holiday PTO requires unit manager approval
