Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical unit position requiring 2 years of post-operative patient care experience and a New Mexico or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a 24-bed Surgical Inpatient Unit at a Level III trauma center
- Care for adult patients ranging from 18 to 100+ years old
- Specialty focus includes Ortho/Neuro Surgery along with Medical/Nephrology as needed
- Patient ratios up to 1:6 with frequent admissions and discharges throughout the shift
- Uses IV pumps and vital sign monitors
- Utilizes Cerner EMR
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Requires at least 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Float requirements include Cardiology (lower acuity patients), Med/Surg, and Pediatrics (adult patients only)
- Serves as Charge Nurse for the unit
Requirements
- Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required experience in post-operative patient care including ortho/neurosurgical/abdominal surgeries
- Experience with NG tubes, chest tubes, foley catheters/TURPs, and respiratory issues required
- Experience managing diabetic patient care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and pain management required
