Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Cardiac Stepdown) role requiring GA or compact RN license and prior cardiac telemetry experience.

Details

• Cardiac Stepdown unit within a Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital
• 34-bed unit caring for chest pain, arrhythmias, CHF, ACS, A-Fib, heart block, and post-cardiac catheterization patients
• Utilizes cardiac titratable drips, glucommander protocol, and bedside cardiac monitors
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 13-week schedule
• Every other weekend rotation required
• On-call requests are rare and typically only occur during low census periods
• Floating required to all Med-Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders, ICU, and ER as needed
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification required (facility will provide if not already held)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU or related specialty required, with most recent experience within the last year
• PCU skills including arrhythmia monitoring and knowledge of cardiac titratable drips required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously employed in a permanent position

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to cardiac stepdown patients including monitoring for arrhythmias and administering titratable cardiac drips
• Work alongside CNAs, nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, safety sitters, Virtual RN, and Virtual Patient Observers
• Two nurses required to place foley catheters per facility policy
• Orientation includes one week of facility-wide NEO followed by 2-3 days of department-specific training
• 70% holiday coverage required

• Department culture emphasizes teamwork, timely response to call lights and telemetry alerts, and mutual support among staff
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved in advance if participating in clinical interviewing and extending contract
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
