Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric ICU RN with Level 1 trauma and intubated patient care experience for a rotating day/night assignment at a leading Rochester, MN hospital.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) caring for critically ill pediatric patients across medical, surgical, trauma, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, and pulmonary specialties
  • Unit is a designated pediatric liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplant center
  • Also cares for critical patients with congenital and complex multi-organ conditions requiring ongoing interventions
  • 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts, 3 days per week)
  • Day/Night rotation with shifts from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730
  • Every third weekend required
  • Floating required as needed
  • Cardiac monitoring/telemetry skills and ability to read strips required
  • Facility may call off or cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment due to low census
  • Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license required, no pending license accepted
  • BLS and PALS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • CCRN and TCTCN certifications strongly preferred
  • 2 years of recent acute nursing experience required
  • 2 years of PICU RN experience required
  • 6 months of travel nursing experience required, 1 year preferred
  • Level 1 trauma care and intubated patient care experience required
  • Solid organ transplant experience strongly preferred
  • Must pass ECG exam during orientation to continue assignment
  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program

Additional Information

  • Coordinate nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care
  • Provide leadership through preceptor roles, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, and resource availability
  • On-site position, no teleworking options available
  • COVID vaccination and booster required for consideration
  • Travelers may remain on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, requiring a 30-60 day break before returning to a new assignment
