Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years PICU experience and PALS/BLS certification.
Details
- Work in a 14-bed PICU with 11 private rooms and one semi-private area with 3 beds
- Patient population ranges from infants to 21 years old
- Common diagnoses include DKA, respiratory failure and distress, pneumonia, status asthmaticus, trauma, sepsis, ingestion, seizures, altered mental status, post-arrest, and post-surgical cases
- Bedside procedures include central line/arterial line placement, chest tube placement, bronchoscopy, and EVD/bolt placement
- Equipment used includes Philips monitors, Servo ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo feeding pumps
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 1845-0715
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to other units required as needed
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- No first-time travelers considered
- Prior travel experience required
- Experience with ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care, and BiPAP/CPAP management
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
- Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and IV vasopressors
- Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical care
- Two professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients requiring intensive monitoring and specialized interventions
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Travelers who have oriented at this facility within the past year are not required to reorient
