Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN for a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown unit requiring NIHSS certification and prior telemetry/neuro stepdown experience.

Details

• Work in a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown telemetry unit
• Patient population includes stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, general med/surg, and IMC/stepdown level of care
• Standard patient assignment is 1:4, potentially higher depending on available resources
• Performs special procedures including lumbar drain care, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education
• Epic charting system experience required
• Rotating 3x12 shifts, primarily days (7a-7p) with occasional nights (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend required

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
• Required experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
• Trauma Level II hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide care for neurological and stroke patients including lumbar drain management, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing; no medical or religious exemptions accepted, and CAPRs/PAPRs are not provided or permitted
• Candidates living within 70 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Clinicians may not work more than 1 year as a traveler at this facility without taking a 6-month break before returning
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
