Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a busy Neuro Stepdown/Telemetry unit requiring NIHSS certification and prior stepdown or telemetry experience.

Details

• Work in a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown unit at a Level II trauma facility
• Patient population includes stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, and general med/surg cases at an IMC/stepdown level of care
• Special procedures include lumbar drains, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education
• Typical patient assignment is 1:4, though ratios may be higher when additional resources are available
• Rotating 3x12 shifts, mostly days with occasional nights as needed
• Every other weekend required
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Required experience in Telemetry and Neuro Stepdown/PCU/DOU/IMC settings
• Level II Trauma experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Care for patients with strokes, aneurysms, craniotomies, intracranial bleeds, TBI, and spinal cord injuries
• Provide post-TPA care and pre/post neurosurgical monitoring
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing; no exceptions or exemptions permitted
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Candidates must live more than 70 miles from the facility to be considered
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler and must take a 6-month break before returning
