Description
American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring ARRT (R)(CT) certification and CT experience in a trauma setting.
Details
- Work in the CT Scan department of a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- 4x10 hour day shifts, Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call requirement
- May float within scope to sister facilities as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
- Uses Siemens and PACS equipment, with Sectra experience preferred
Requirements
- ARRT (R)(CT) and BLS certification required
- SC license required if applicable
- 1 year of CT experience preferred; 6 months of Level I Trauma CT experience required
- Level I Trauma work setting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with Epic charting system required
- Skilled in starting peripheral IVs and administering contrast media
- Proficient in image display and post-processing including 3D rendering, MPR, and ROI measurement
- Experience with abdomen/pelvis, head/neck, spine/musculoskeletal, and chest CT studies
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and radiation safety protocols
- First-time travelers considered if they have relevant CT experience
- Radiation badge required and must be supplied by the agency
Additional Information
- Perform CT scans across adult acute care, outpatient, emergency department, ICU, and Level I Trauma settings
- Special procedures may include biopsies, aspirations, brain perfusion, coronary CTA, vascular CTA, and drainage
- Attend all staff meetings during the assignment
- Facility is Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma status and 865 staffed beds
- Scrub color requirement: teal top and black bottom
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
- Radius rule of 60 miles applies
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for approval
- During hurricane season (June-November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams

Everyone was so helpful and nice when i started. beautiful hospital grounds with ample outdoor areas to hang out during breaks/lunch.Amazing cafeteria and always had at least 5 food trucks outside the hospital for linch. Friendly staff including doctors and great patients. patient to staff ratio was awesome and always had a great team mentality of helping everyone out when needed.
Cons
The only con of the area was cost of living especially rent. I rented downtown so I could walk to work but coworkers who lived off of the main downtown area on other islands complained of heavy traffic.
