Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active SC or Compact RN license and 3+ years of experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical/General Surgery unit in a 396-bed acute care facility
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), with 3x12s also accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally 1:7
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• Holiday rotation and call rotation required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• 3+ years of Med/Surg nursing experience highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg and general surgery patients including ortho trauma, cardiovascular, and renal cases
• Manage patients with CVA, renal failure, and post-angiogram or post-hemodialysis needs
• Administer medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
• Perform bladder scans and blood product administration as required
• Scrub color required: royal blue or white
• Free parking available on-site
• During hurricane season (June-November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Candidates must live outside a 60-mile radius to be considered; local candidates not accepted
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application for approval consideration
• First-time travelers accepted but not preferred
• Candidates who can work holidays will be prioritized
