Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab RN with a minimum of 2 years of recent Cath Lab experience and required STEMI experience for a role requiring an active IL RN license.
Details
- Acute care setting within a Cardiac Cath Lab department featuring 5 procedural suites/labs
- Handles an average daily caseload including 5 coronary cases, 1 neuro case, 3 EP cases, and 16 IR cases
- Patient population includes STEMI, PCI, diagnostic coronary angiography, structural heart procedures, EP studies, ablations, device implants, synchronized cardioversions, TEEs, acute stroke/thrombectomy, peripheral vascular interventions, biopsies, and drain placements
- Uses Epic EMR, Change Healthcare (formerly McKesson), and Lifepak 20 equipment
- Schedule consists of Monday–Friday 9-hour shifts with one rotating day off each week
- Rotating weekday and weekend on-call coverage required, including 24-hour call shifts on Saturdays and Sundays
- Call hours cover any time outside M-F 0700-1630
- Floating required within the cath lab department only, including Coronary, Neuro IR, Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology, and Prep & Recovery areas
- Manager or Charge Nurse present on each shift
- Cath Lab Techs support each case by scrubbing and monitoring
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab RN experience required
- STEMI experience required
- IR and Neuro IR experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS, and NIHSS
- BSN not required for this position
- Must be able to pass a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across coronary, neuro, EP, and interventional radiology procedures within the cath lab
- Orientation is individualized based on prior experience, typically including 1–2 days in each procedural area
- Holiday coverage required if a holiday falls within the contract period
- Hospital-provided surgical scrubs required for dress code
- Local rates available for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility, though no radius rule applies for eligibility
- COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
