Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a night shift position requiring 1.5 years of NICU experience and current NRP certification.

Details

• Position within the Pediatrics Department's NICU unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:00-06:30)
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Cares for neonates across gestational ages, including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
• Attends high-risk deliveries
• Every other weekend requirement
• Floating required to Peds department and NICU, and may include affiliate hospitals nearby
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Current BLS and NRP (or NRP Advanced) certification required
• STABLE certification preferred
• 1.5 years of NICU experience required
• Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Graduated from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC care, central line care, and administration of blood products and emergency medications
• Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, CPAP, and other neonatal respiratory support required
• Experience with neonatal abstinence syndrome, therapeutic hypothermia, and NEC care preferred

Additional Information

• Deliver comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
• Provide patient and family teaching and developmental care
• Perform APGAR scoring, phlebotomy, and thermoregulation for neonatal patients
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and ICP monitoring
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing in Indiana are not accepted for this position
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility before reapplying
