Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position at a Magnet-designated academic medical center, requiring ACLS/BLS certification and prior surgical or neuro ICU experience.

Details

  • Surgical critical care unit treating patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, general surgery, orthopedics, and transplant services
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend rotation required unless otherwise noted on posted schedule
  • Floating required within the hospital to other ICU units
  • No floating to sister hospitals
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Neuro or surgical ICU experience preferred
  • Academic medical center and teaching hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Experience with vaso-active drips, central lines, PA catheters, EVDs, flap monitoring, arterial lines, and wound care required
  • Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and cardiac drip titration
  • Experience with post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery patient management preferred
  • Experience with ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and hypothermia protocols preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex surgical patients including neurosurgical, transplant, and multi-system organ dysfunction cases
  • Located within a Magnet-designated, teaching, academic medical center
  • Scrubs of any color permitted, with scrubs provided for OR personnel
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this role
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 1 week, with no RTO accommodated during orientation week
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
