Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and EPIC EMR proficiency in a Level 2 trauma acute care setting.

Details

• Med/Surg unit within an acute care, Level 2 trauma hospital
• Patient ratios typically 1:5-6, occasionally up to 7 depending on acuity
• Common diagnoses include CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday/Sunday)
• Charge nurse and CNA support present on every shift
• Floating to Critical Care may occur, with med/surg or stepdown level patients assigned
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Telemetry monitoring by Phillips systems with monitor techs; RN must be able to read and interpret strips
• RT available 24/7 for CPAP/BiPap and ventilator management; RNs perform aerosols on non-vented patients and EKGs
• IV team available house-wide until 10pm weekdays and 3:30pm weekends
• In-house pharmacy 24/7 utilizing Accudose

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy med/surg unit with a diverse case mix
• 1-2 shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Participate in holiday rotation alongside permanent staff
• Royal blue scrub color required
• False nails are not permitted
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify as a traveler
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Manager is open to block scheduling requests and is noted as traveler-friendly
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous WVU Medicine travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine facilities for more than a cumulative year without a 2-year break
