Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ED Holds/Tele position requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and an AZ or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting in an ED Holds/Tele unit within a Level 3 trauma facility
• Cares for ED patients awaiting placement on an inpatient unit, primarily MS/Tele diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1 to 4
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour day shifts, either 7a-7p or 7p-7a, with self-scheduling ability that may change
• Requires 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule
• Holiday coverage rotates in with permanent staff
• No call or standby requirement
• May float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and other campus EDs as needed
• ED PCTs available for support, no monitor techs, RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
• No ventilators used on this unit
• May assist with ED patient care including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration but will not serve as primary RN for ED assignments

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred, with strong cardiac telemetry background
• Must be able to titrate and decrease cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters, including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam through UNA prior to start (maximum 2 attempts)
• Must pass a Pass/Fail sterile technique skills lab on day one of orientation
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provides care primarily to MS/Tele patients transitioning from the ED to an inpatient bed
• Navy scrub color required
• Unit orientation includes 2 shifts at the primary campus Med/Surg/Tele unit
• Failure of the dysrhythmia exam or sterile technique skills test results in a 6-month do-not-use status within the CommonSpirit Sacramento and Arizona regions
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this MS/Tele position
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license address
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
