Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift cardiac telemetry unit requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit (3T) within a 337-bed hospital that is a Chest Pain and Stroke Center
• 34-bed unit with an average census of 32 plus 3 surge rooms
• Patient population includes ESRD, CHF, pneumonia, sickle cell crisis, diabetes/DKA, wounds, and acute/chronic renal failure, mostly medical rather than surgical
• Unit will begin caring for Hematology/Oncology patients starting Spring 2026; chemo certification not required but comfort caring for these patients is necessary
• RN patient ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, with critical surge ratios of 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7P-7A), 36 hours per week, with every other weekend rotation
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices
• Telemetry monitoring/tech support available on the unit
• Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital)

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; ONS preferred but not required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• General medical/surgical skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct patient care on a newly opened unit (January 2025) known for a welcoming, psychologically safe, and just culture
• Strong interdisciplinary support including CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, clinical nurse specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue for RNs

• Travelers must work 75% of holidays

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
• Previous employees must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
