Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit within a Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated Stroke Center and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Average daily census of 28 patients
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy cases, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management
• RN ratios of 1:4-6 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0700-1900
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed and within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

• Support team includes CNAs, unit receptionists/HUCs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring and tech support available on the unit
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required

• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
