Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedic/Med-Surg unit position requiring an active Illinois RN license and prior ortho traction and wound care experience.

Details

• Inpatient orthopedic and medical/surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Cares for ortho and medical/surgical patients requiring traction, wound care, and mobility support
• Uses ortho traction, surgical traction devices, wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
• Epic EMR charting required
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3 shifts per week, 36 hours weekly
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Floating to similar units required

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required
• Skilled in wound care, ortho traction setup, mobility assistance, and medication management

Additional Information

• Perform patient assessments each shift and develop individualized care plans
• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinate with physicians and surgeons on patient care plans
• Delegate and monitor care tasks performed by HCT staff
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not remain on assignment for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning
• First-time travelers may be considered
