Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Ortho Inpatient position requiring at least one year of nursing experience and an active Illinois RN license.
Details
- Inpatient orthopedics and medical/surgical unit setting
- Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3 days per week (36 hours)
- Requires 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- Floating to similar units required
- Utilizes Epic charting system
- Level 1 Trauma center environment
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
- ASN required, BSN preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Experience with ortho traction, surgical traction devices, wound care, wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to ortho and medical/surgical patients including assessment, care planning, and intervention every shift
- Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
- Coordinate with physicians and surgeons on patient care plans
- Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
- Set up and manage ortho traction and surgical traction devices for mobility and wound care
- Support professional development of peers and maintain accurate nursing documentation
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
- RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
- Candidates who have worked continuously for the health system for more than 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning
