Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (ENT/Plastics) position on night shift requiring MO or compact RN license and prior Level I/Teaching Facility experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit specializing in ENT and Plastic Surgery patients
• Cares for patients with cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, carotid blow out precautions, and free flap patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Telemetry monitoring required
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• BSN preferred
• 2 years of Med/Surg experience required; will consider 1+ year with Level I Trauma/Teaching Facility experience
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with tracheostomy and feeding tube care and management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and surgical drain management
• Experience with oxygen administration, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including drain management, post-op flap monitoring, tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, IV access, and central line management
• Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated Teaching Hospital
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No more than 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Does not accept local candidates within a 75-mile radius
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
