Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist for a Level III trauma center, requiring 2+ years of pediatric respiratory experience and CT/RI state licensure.

Details

• Short-term acute care Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds, part of the Yale New Haven Health System
• Assignment in the RRT Pediatrics unit
• Evening and/or night shifts, 8 and/or 12 hour shifts based on department need
• At least every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating to Westerly Hospital as needed
• Charting via EPIC (preferred experience)
• Works with adult critical care, emergency department, NICU, and pediatric patient populations

Requirements

• CRT or RRT (preferred) certification required
• BLS certification required
• CT and RI state licenses required (may start with one active and one pending)
• License required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, pediatrics experience required
• Trauma center experience at a large facility required
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures such as bubble CPAP, CPAP/BiPAP, intubation assist, and umbilical blood gases preferred
• Skilled in ventilator management, arterial blood gas interpretation, and airway management/suctioning
• Experience with chest physiotherapy and vest therapy preferred
• 1 reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to pediatric, neonatal, and adult critical care patients, including high-risk delivery support
• Perform pulmonary hygiene, tracheostomy care, and medication delivery via nebulizer and MDI
• Care for infants and children with RSV and other respiratory conditions
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious/medical exemption only
• Travelers obligated to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Local candidates not accepted; radius rule of 75 miles applies
• Former staff must be separated from employment for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be auto-approved
• First-time travelers considered only with relevant Level I trauma or equivalent experience
