Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center, requiring CT/compact RN license and prior oncology or large trauma center experience.

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Average patient ratio of 1:4
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active or pending CT (Standard or Compact) RN license required
• BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC certification preferred
• 2 years of oncology nursing experience preferred, 1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital
• Experience with IV therapy/infusions, blood and blood product administration, and port care and management required
• Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
• Experience caring for patients with lung cancer, melanoma, and pancreatic cancer preferred
• Ability to recognize and manage biotherapy side effects
• 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in an inpatient oncology setting at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center with 1,567 staffed beds
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a travel employee
• RTO greater than 7 days and/or requests during holidays require additional approval
• Travelers are obligated to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
