Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position requiring a NC or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Details

• 37-bed Medical Surgical unit caring for a diverse patient population with oncologic and general medical-surgical needs
• Core patients include those undergoing active cancer treatment, post-surgical oncology cases, and those with neutropenia, pain crises, or disease progression
• Unit also supports end-of-life and palliative care when appropriate
• Bariatric Center of Excellence unit serving the majority of post-surgical bariatric patients
• Oncology represents a small portion of the patient population and chemotherapy administration is typically not managed on this unit
• Ideal patient ratio 5:1, max 6:1
• Night shift schedule, 3 shifts per week at 12 hours per shift (6:45 pm - 7:15 am)
• Every other weekend and rotating holidays required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state required by day of clinical care
• BLS certification required
• Two plus years of experience preferred
• One year of acute care/inpatient hospital RN experience preferred
• ACLS certification may be required for certain units, with training provided if needed

Additional Information

• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction of a physician
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to identify and pursue expected patient outcomes
• Assess and anticipate discharge needs, coordinating with resources for complex or high-risk cases
• Communicate with patients and families to develop and update care plans using cultural competency and active listening
• Promote a safe, clean environment through infection control and standard precautions
• Complete annual competency assessments per unit checklist
