Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a hospital position requiring a CA RN license and at least 1 year of L&D experience.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit caring for a high-risk OB, culturally diverse patient population
- RNs circulate on cesarean sections
- 11 rooms/15 beds with an average daily census of 15-20 patients
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
- Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers given first priority within scope
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (pending license not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products required
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs and use of infusion pumps/drips required
- Experience with labor and delivery management, including assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating for C-sections
- Experience with fetal monitoring, including use of external fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with postpartum care, including fundus/lochia/perineum care and breastfeeding support
- 2 supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care in a high-risk OB setting
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock situations, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities in the area
