Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active CA RN license and at least 1 year of L&D experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Cares for a high-risk OB, culturally diverse patient population
• RNs circulate on cesarean sections
• 11 rooms/beds with an average daily census of 15-20 and approximately 20 visits per day
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 18:00 to 6:00
• Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
• Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers given priority to float within their scope
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, and maintaining IVs and infusion pumps
• Experience assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing labor and delivery care
• Experience with fetal monitoring (EFM), NST, and obstetrical patient triage
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation
• Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessment and cesarean section recovery
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care within a high-risk OB unit
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section recovery, and newborn assessments
• Support antepartum and postpartum patients with fetal monitoring, medication administration, and discharge teaching
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted site
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff
