Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ED position at a busy Level 2/3 Trauma Center, requiring mixed adult and pediatric ER experience and BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications.

• Mixed adult and pediatric emergency department in a busy Level 2 Trauma Center
• 54-bed ER seeing an average of 220 patients per day
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• No set weekend rotation, but may be scheduled up to six weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
• Night shift staff may be assigned up to three Sundays per scheduling period
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Floating required in rotation with staff, based on clinical experience and unit orientation

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS (NIHSS may be pending)
• Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
• At least 1 year of ED travel experience required (may accept 3 years of ER experience in a busy Level 2 or 3 trauma facility in lieu of travel experience)
• Experience with both pediatric and adult ER patient populations required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation experience preferred
• Ortho trauma experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care to a mixed population of pediatric and adult patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting
• Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, STEMI Certified, and Stroke Certified
• Handle shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds
• Expect to work some holidays and weekends
• Two-step PPD and flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment and confirmed in advance
• Local candidates are generally not accepted, though exceptions may apply for certain positions at a lower rate
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be considered as a traveler
• Travelers must separate for a minimum of 90 days before returning to the facility after a 1-year assignment
• Former permanent employees must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
