Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift position requiring an active NY RN license and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• Work in a general Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
• All emergency type diagnoses including trauma, cardiac, neuro, and psychiatric cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 13-week assignment on night shift (7p-7a, 3x12)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement if needed
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Uses specialized equipment including Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Floating required within skillset
• Facility is a Magnet-recognized, Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center and Level I academic teaching hospital

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• PALS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Required EPIC charting experience
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors and continuous IV sedation
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients
• Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with emergency care for adult and pediatric patients including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
• Experience with isolation precautions, triage, and managing violent or suicidal patients
• Experience with pediatric spinal cord injury care

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of adult and geriatric diagnoses in a high-acuity ED setting
• Work in a state-of-the-art ED with a dedicated pediatric unit, crisis intervention unit, and trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
• Scrubs must be any combination of navy blue and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for RN positions
• Time off requests must be submitted at the time of application
• Former staff must wait 6 months system-wide before being eligible to return
