Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week assignment requiring NY licensure, EPIC experience, and a rotating night/mid shift schedule.
Details
- Work in an 11-bed medical Emergency Department with a separate Crisis Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) unit
- CPEP unit includes a 6-patient evaluation space and a 2-patient Extended Observation space
- Staffed by ED nursing and PCT staff, with dedicated CPEP behavioral health team coverage when patients are present
- Patients are triaged and medically cleared before entering the CPEP space
- Typical shift blocks in CPEP are 6 hours on days/mids and up to 12 hours on nights
- Security posted in the ED
- Night/mid rotation schedule: 1900-0700 or 1100-2300, 3x12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Floating required
- EPIC charting experience required
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
- CPI, TNCC, and CPIM certifications preferred
- Minimum 1 year of ER nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience with adult and pediatric emergency care preferred
- Skills in trauma care, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and respiratory management preferred
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult/pediatric ED and CPEP behavioral health unit
- Manage patients with psychiatric holds, acute psychosis, and behavioral health crises within the CPEP space
- Perform triage, cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
- Skills in orthopedic trauma care and splinting preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
- Call-off policy allows up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment; on-call placement in lieu of call-off counts as a called-off shift
