Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level III/IV unit requiring an active NJ or Compact license and BLS/NRP certification.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• NICU setting with Level III care, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks
• Patient ratios of 1:1-3 in NICU and 1:4 in IMCU
• Will not attend high-risk deliveries or be assigned Level IV patients, ECMO, or fresh post-ops
• Every other weekend (Sat/Sun) requirement, subject to change
• Floating required to NBN, Peds, and PICU based on patient volume and acuity, within skillset only
• Uses EPIC for charting, along with Crib Notes

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• 2+ years of NICU experience required
• Experience with neurologic care for neonatal abstinence syndrome
• Skilled in administering blood products, starting/maintaining IVs, and neonatal medication management including anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics/antivirals, and steroids
• Proficient in neonatal dosage calculations and phlebotomy
• Experience with cardiovascular monitoring/telemetry and ventilator/intubated patient management
• Skilled in respiratory support including HFNC and oxygen delivery systems, and managing respiratory distress
• Experience with breastfeeding support, colostomy/ileostomy care, enteral feedings, and tube placement
• Skilled in glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia
• Experience with developmental care, patient/family teaching, infection control, isolation precautions, and sepsis workup
• EPIC charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

• Unit is part of a Level IV NICU offering advanced care including ECMO therapy, advanced ventilation, nitric oxide treatment, and rapid genome sequencing
• Serves as a Regional Perinatal Center supporting more than 15 hospitals
