Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Surgical IMCU/Stepdown unit requiring Level 1 trauma center stepdown experience and an active MA RN license.
Details
- Work in a 38-bed Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/Stepdown)
- Patient population includes post-operative cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, trauma, and transplant patients transferred from PACU or SICU
- Average patient ratio of 1:3 to 1:4, or 1:4-5 when caring for MedSurg patients
- 12-hour shifts on a day/night rotation (7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a) totaling 36 hours per week
- Requires working every other weekend and every other holiday
- Uses automated medication dispensing systems
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required
- 2+ years of recent acute care experience
- Surgical stepdown experience required at a Level 1 trauma center
- IMCU/Stepdown unit experience required
- More than 1 previous travel assignment required
- Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips
- Tertiary facility experience preferred
- Must pass facility telemetry and critical care medication tests on day 1
- Two professional references required, including one at the manager level with a performance evaluation
- One reference evaluation must be within the last 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring
- Previous permanent staff at this facility are not eligible for consideration as travelers
- Must reside within 50 miles of the facility to be considered a local candidate
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to experience requirements
