Description
American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry/PCU RN for a Stroke & Brain unit requiring NIHSS certification and recent telemetry or neurology experience.
Details
- Work in the Stroke & Brain unit, a 16-bed Progressive Care Unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 4:1 with tech support available
- Uses Welch Allyn VS machines, Hoyer lift, Sarah Steady lift, telemetry monitoring, bladder scanner, and Doppler equipment
- Charting performed in Meditech
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Scheduled for 3 shifts per week including 3-4 weekend shifts per schedule
- Floating required to any area where competency has been demonstrated, per contract terms
Requirements
- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in telemetry, PCU, or stroke/neurology specialty required
- Experience with cardiac drips, telemetry monitoring, and basic dysrhythmia recognition preferred
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Two professional references required for Missouri placements
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to stroke and neurology patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- High employee engagement reported within the unit
- Navy blue scrubs required as part of the dress code
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted

This MRI department is amazing! The nurses there are awesome! My experience there was exceptional! The patient care was outstanding!!
Cons
The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
