Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level II Trauma Emergency Department requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Details
- Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center emergency department
- Mixed ER holding area with no separate psych/seclusion rooms
- Average of 100 patients treated per day
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
- RNs perform Point of Care lab testing and must independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
- Techs support unit secretary duties, assist nurses on the floor, and assist with triage
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
- Uses Epic EMR
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating required within Zone 1 (PEN, SFH, SFI, SMC, STM) only in cases of extreme need
- No call or standby requirement
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (AHA where applicable)
- Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, Level II trauma emergency department
- Perform Point of Care lab testing as part of daily duties
- Work alongside RT, techs, and charge nurses who also take assignments
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility (or float zone city center) to be eligible for the position
- Travelers are expected to float throughout the full 60-mile Zone 1 as needed and are responsible for securing housing accordingly
- Must be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are remote
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI and Dignity) within the past year, though PRN work through outside firms is acceptable
- First-time travelers may be considered
